Start with your exact EliteBook generation. HP lists the USB-C Dock G5 for both reviewed models; the reviewed G8 SKU sheet also lists Thunderbolt Dock 120W G4.
Match the complete B5 code first. SimPro Dock 2 has an ASUS model list; selected B5 models also have documented Thunderbolt 4 ports for evaluating alternatives.
Both reviewed UX5406 variants list Thunderbolt 4 with video and charging. Match SA or AA, then verify the dock’s combined screen and power requirements.
The 13-inch and 15-inch M5 Air support two native external displays with the built-in screen active. Choose a dock arrangement that preserves two independent video paths.
The base M5 supports two native external displays, M5 Pro three and M5 Max four. The dock may support fewer than the Mac itself.
Use the USB 3 port for native video. MacBook Neo supports one native external display up to 4K60; its other USB-C port does not provide native video.
Keep a working G5 if it meets your desk’s needs. Consider the G4 when a documented host, display or management requirement justifies the change.
SimPro 2 offers an explicit ASUS model list. DC500 offers a different Thunderbolt 4 output arrangement, whose triple-screen claim depends on the host.
For two native Mac screens, investigate TBT4-UDZ. UD-ULTC4K uses native video for its first group and DisplayLink for groups 2 and 3.
Choose between the whole desk arrangements: TS4 provides more built-in connections and up to 98 W host power; the Thunderbolt 4 Element Hub supplies up to 60 W and needs video adapters for HDMI or DisplayPort screens.
Use the rear HDMI or DisplayPort sockets for monitors. Two 4K screens need more than a compatible-model listing: the laptop’s DisplayPort capability and the G5 display mode must also match.
Match the 120W G2 / 2UK37AA label. HP’s legacy compatibility table provides more choices for selected EliteBook, ProBook and ZBook models, but its monitor modes remain dependent on the host connection.
These four exact EliteBook models have evidence for both the USB-C Dock G5 and Thunderbolt 120W G2. Start with the dock you own, then check your desired screens and the cables it actually needs.
A ProBook generation and its full model number matter. The G5 dock’s compatibility list is broader than the reviewed Thunderbolt G2 list; a G7 laptop does not inherit a G5/G6 dock endorsement.
First check the complete ASUS model code. For rows marked with video support, ASUS lists HDMI and a DisplayPort output up to 3840 × 2160 at 60 Hz. That does not prove multiple 4K60 screens together.
ASUS marks native HDMI, DisplayPort and VGA unavailable for six exact models even though they appear in the SimPro compatibility document. USB or Ethernet working is not evidence that monitors will work.
ASUS specifically flags B6602FC2 as requiring an external power source for optimal performance with SimPro Dock 2. Working displays do not prove the dock alone can sustain the laptop under load.
Use the two rear USB-C video ports, one per monitor. Connect Dock 2 to the Surface through its magnetic Surface Connect cable. Front USB-C accessory ports are not monitor outputs.
Surface Go tablets and Surface Laptop Go laptops have different display limits. Go 2–4 list two 4K screens at 30 Hz; Laptop Go 2 and 3 can reach two 4K60 screens within Dock 2’s limit.
Both Pro 9 variants are listed for Surface Dock 2, with a two-4K60 starting point from Microsoft’s tables. The Thunderbolt 4 Dock uses a different connection: Intel and SQ3 do not have the same host-link capabilities.
Find the model code under the laptop, such as SFG14-73 or ANV15-51. The Acer name alone does not tell you which USB-C port carries video or how much power it accepts.
The reviewed Swift Go and AV16-71P models provide Thunderbolt 4 connections. Start with the dock’s correct host cable and one monitor, then check the combined mode before adding a second.
TMP414-53-TCO and TMP414-41 are different TravelMate P4 generations. Match the complete SKU, then compare the published computer port with the dock’s host requirements.
The reviewed Nitro V 15 and Aspire 5 support USB-C video, but list only 65 W USB-C input. Keep their stronger original power arrangement when the workload requires it.
These ThinkPads have more than one video route. Their total external-screen allowance does not mean every compatible dock can supply that many screens at your chosen resolution.
On a tablet listed for wired DeX, start with a compatible USB-C-to-HDMI cable or adapter and one HDMI monitor. DeX on the tablet itself does not prove that an FE model supports wired video.
Try a shorter model name, a symptom, or clear the filters.
Use the compatibility checklist
