Applies to: CalDigit TS3 Plus only; host, OS, hardware revision and monitor-mode conditions still apply.
Identify this exact dock
The ordinary USB-C ports are data-only. The spare Thunderbolt port is the second video route.
Match the complete model printed on the unit. Up to two 4K60 screens on a suitable Thunderbolt host. Base-M1/M2 laptop native limits still apply. CalDigit TS3 Plus: two-screen connection and active adapters
Which port is for what?

Before connecting
Up to 87 W host charging; check the unit’s firmware and supplied adapter.
Use the intended powered-dock setup and host cable. Record each monitor’s input, resolution and refresh rate. Keep those requirements separate from the dock’s total port count.
Bring the desk up one screen at a time
- Connect the specified power supply to the dock.
- Connect the laptop using thunderbolt port marked computer.
- Attach one screen on a listed video path and select its wired input.
- Confirm the operating system recognizes that screen before adding another supported screen.
- Select the required modes and an extended desktop where supported. Check charging, reconnecting and your essential applications.
A useful check when something fails
For two HDMI screens, the DisplayPort path needs an active DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter and the spare Thunderbolt path needs a suitable USB-C video adapter. A passive DisplayPort adapter can be the missing requirement even when the other screen works.
Change one part of the arrangement at a time. Keep a note of the working monitor, cable and port so you can reproduce the result. If the remaining requirement has no documented answer, ask the manufacturer about the exact models instead of assuming the entire dock is defective.
Is it worth buying or replacing?
Some Windows Thunderbolt 3 hosts expose only one display stream. Confirm the computer’s stream capability before assuming dual 4K60. Buying a newer cable cannot add a stream the host does not provide.
