1. Identify the equipment
- Laptop model, generation and full processor/chip name.
- Operating-system version and any workplace management restrictions.
- Dock model, installed cable module and power-adapter rating.
- Each monitor model and available input connectors.
- The exact cables/adapters, including any directional connections.
Avoid serial numbers in a public help request. Model names normally provide the useful starting point. Keep your own private support identifiers separate.
2. Define the display requirement
Record the number of external displays, whether the laptop screen stays active, and each resolution/refresh-rate pair. Then check the host’s specification and the dock’s simultaneous-output table. 3. Validate the connection
Start with the simplest working connection and add one component at a time. A documented plan and an observed result should have separate notes. If each monitor works alone but the pair fails, preserve that result instead of repeating the single-monitor tests indefinitely.

4. Check power and software
Record the power delivered to your laptop separately from the dock adapter’s rating. Compare charging behavior under the workload you intend to run. If a software graphics system is required, confirm both hardware compatibility and permission to use it.

5. Keep an evidence record
Write down the source URL, date checked, exact scope, any unresolved conflict and your own test result. “Documented” means a source states something within its scope. “Tested” means a person actually tried the recorded setup. This site’s initial guides are documentation-based.
Before the return period ends, test waking, reconnecting, charging, required peripherals and the applications you use. If the desk fails, record the smallest change that reproduces the problem. That record is more useful than an unqualified compatibility badge.
