What is documented

Set up a stable working desk
- Power the dock with its specified supply.
- Connect the laptop’s own supported external power source as ASUS requires for optimal performance.
- Use the dock’s computer cable for the data/video connection.
- Start with one monitor on the documented HDMI or DisplayPort route; check a combined-mode table before adding high-resolution screens.
- Check battery behavior and performance during the actual work you expect to do, rather than only at an idle desktop.
Avoid the wrong upgrade
A larger number printed on a dock supply does not mean that power reaches the laptop. Negotiated host power, cable support and the computer’s accepted charging route remain separate. The useful decision is whether the two-cable arrangement already meets your needs. Replacing working equipment solely to remove one cable needs a documented alternative first.
If charging or performance still drops
Record the laptop charger rating, dock supply, battery behavior and workload. Compare results with the dock disconnected while keeping the supported laptop charger attached. This helps separate a power issue from a display or peripheral issue. Do not transfer this model’s special footnote to every ASUS laptop, or ignore it because another B-series model charges from a dock alone.
