Front USB-C is not the Mac mini M4 video route
Apple lists display output on the rear Thunderbolt ports. The front USB-C ports are USB data connections; a matching connector at the front is not the documented video path. The M4 model has rear Thunderbolt 4, while M4 Pro has Thunderbolt 5. Apple: Mac mini 2024 specifications
Try one direct screen
- Connect the desktop to its own mains power.
- Use a rear video-capable Thunderbolt port and a cable matching the display input.
- Select the monitor input, then the supported picture mode in macOS.
- Add further screens only using the model’s documented output combination.
A desktop does not need laptop charging
A dock can add peripheral connections, but it does not replace the desktop’s power cable. Our single-screen direct plan is separate from unconfirmed third-party dock arrangements. Keep the desktop, dock and display limits in the same keep a connection checklist.
