Compare direct and docked at the same mode

  1. Record the monitor model, selected physical input and current OS display setting.
  2. Test a supported direct host connection with the same monitor.
  3. Compare the available resolution and refresh-rate options.
  4. Insert the dock again and note exactly which option disappears or changes.
  5. If only the docked mode is limited, inspect the dock’s output table, cable and adapter rather than changing monitor sharpness controls repeatedly.

Separate scaling from signal bandwidth

A comfortable desktop scale is a user-interface choice. A missing supported signal mode is a connection-capability question. On some systems the settings screen presents a logical desktop size alongside a different transmitted resolution; record the wording you see instead of assuming they are identical.

If the display becomes limited only when a second monitor is attached, revisit the simultaneous-output table. The single-display maximum is not the right reference for that two-screen arrangement. The WD19S guide shows why these conditions matter.

Before replacing the monitor

If the monitor produces an acceptable image directly at its supported mode, preserve it as the baseline. The missing capability may be in an adapter or dock path. If text size alone is uncomfortable, try the operating system’s scaling controls before making a hardware decision.

For persistent clarity problems, collect the exact direct and docked settings and photographs that show the same content. Do not claim the dock changes color accuracy or damages the display without evidence; report the observable difference.
