What has evidence behind it
Michigan’s support list includes the Latitude 5440 within its WD19S deployment guidance. The reference describes its supported setup; it is not Connect Your Dock’s own hardware test and does not establish every resolution, adapter or firmware combination. Keep “5440” and “WD19S” in your notes. Substituting another Latitude generation or the dual-connector performance dock would change the evidence being used.
Plan the screens from the dock table
Check the WD19S simultaneous-output table rather than multiplying a single-screen maximum by two. The source distinguishes host display-link capabilities and compression conditions. It also places restrictions on using particular outputs together. Dell: WD19S display-resolution table

A repeatable desk acceptance check
- Power the dock with the required adapter and connect its host cable to the intended laptop port.
- Test one screen, then the second, using an allowed output combination.
- Select an extended desktop and move a different application to each screen.
- Check keyboard, camera and Ethernet individually.
- Run a normal workload and observe charging; then test a reconnect and sleep/wake cycle.
When a published supported setup still fails
Compare the complete arrangement with the scope of the evidence. A different adapter, high-refresh display or dock module can explain why a broadly supported pair does not satisfy a particular desk.
Report the smallest reproducible failure: for example, both screens work alone but one goes dark when the second is added at a specified mode. That is more actionable than replacing the dock immediately. Follow the WD19S mode guide for resolution limits and the wake guide for a desk that fails only after sleep.
