Applies to: Only the six exact model codes below, from ASUS’s feature matrix dated 30 June 2023. These findings concern native video through SimPro Dock 2, not every possible direct or software display method.

Why the general list can be misleading

“Compatible” can describe individual dock functions. A USB keyboard and wired network may work while the laptop supplies no native video signal to this dock. Adding another passive HDMI adapter to the same dock does not create that missing signal. The finder therefore does not present SimPro as a monitor-dock option for these six models.

What to do with the equipment you own

  1. Confirm the exact final letters on the laptop label; L1400CDA and L1400CDAY have different feature rows.
  2. Keep the dock for supported peripherals if those functions meet your needs.
  3. Check the laptop’s own specifications for a separate direct video output and its supported mode. This guide does not assume one exists.
  4. If evaluating a software display adapter, confirm the exact operating system, installation permission and application limits before purchasing. No specific software-dock match is established here for these six models.

Report a conflicting result precisely

A useful report includes the laptop’s full code, operating system, dock model, firmware, monitor input and whether the picture travels through a native output or a software adapter. A current manufacturer correction can change the finding. A report that only says “my ASUS works” cannot identify the affected row.
