Read the limits before the resolution headline
Plugable lists two HDMI outputs, up to 100 W host charging and Windows support. The advertised dual-4K120 capability requires an appropriate full-featured USB4 or Thunderbolt 4 host. Its output table changes with the host link. Plugable UD-4VPD: discontinued model and host-dependent modes
Write your requirement as a pair: the resolution and refresh rate for each screen. A label such as “4K dock” omits half of that requirement.
Inventory the existing desk

Start below the demanding mode
- Connect the powered dock and one HDMI monitor. Choose the HDMI input on the monitor.
- Check an ordinary supported office mode first. Confirm stable video before increasing the refresh rate.
- Add the second display and choose an extended desktop. Record the offered modes for both.
- If the desired mode disappears, compare the dock’s host-specific table with the laptop and monitor specifications.
- Check charging and reconnecting separately. A picture does not verify the power requirement.
If the computer is a Mac
The manufacturer does not recommend UD-4VPD for macOS. Do not transfer a Windows multi-screen claim to a Mac, and do not assume installing DisplayLink changes this native dock’s design. Plugable UD-4VPD: discontinued model and host-dependent modes
Compare a Mac-documented native arrangement or an approved DisplayLink setup against the exact Mac’s limits.
Keep or replace?
Discontinued status alone does not mean an existing working dock must be replaced. If the current desk meets your requirements, record that configuration. For a used purchase, price the missing supply, host cable and any unresolved compatibility question before judging its value.
The detailed checker does not validate 120 Hz or 8K modes. Choosing “another mode” keeps the result unconfirmed rather than silently reducing your requirement to 4K60.
