Which dock options should you consider?
WD19DC or WD19DCS is the only dock family Dell marks supported for Precision 7770 in the reviewed matrix. Use its dual USB-C host connector; Dell's exact display guide also describes a dual-cable WD19DCS path. The laptop itself shipped with 180 W or 240 W barrel adapters: a 240 W configuration exceeds the dock family's published up-to-210 W host delivery, so retain the original barrel charger for full-power operation. Do not substitute a listed-but-unsupported WD25, WD22TB4, WD19S, WD19TB, UD22 or HD22Q merely because its plug fits.
WD19DC / WD19DCS
It is the only dock family marked supported in the reviewed Dell compatibility row, and Dell's exact display guide references the WD19DCS dual-cable route.
Check first: Use the dock's specified dual host connector and AC supply. A 240 W Precision configuration can exceed the dock's up-to-210 W host delivery.
Keep the 180 W or 240 W barrel charger
Dell's Precision 7770 specifications list both barrel-adapter configurations, so the shipped adapter identifies the real workstation power requirement.
Check first: For a 240 W system, use the supported barrel charger when full performance matters. Do not infer that matrix compatibility means the dock replaces every charger.
WD25, WD22, WD19S/TB, UD22 and HD22Q are not alternatives here
Dell marks these other current and previous dock families unsupported for the exact Precision 7770 row.
Check first: A Thunderbolt or USB-C port match is not compatibility evidence. Leave another dock unrecommended unless Dell adds exact-model support.
Connect displays and power
- Computer cable
- Seat both parts of the WD19DC/DCS dual USB-C host connector in the workstation. Do not reduce this exact model to a generic single-cable setup.
- Display cables
- Connect displays directly to the dock's documented DisplayPort/HDMI outputs. Dell's 8K troubleshooting route specifically uses both WD19DCS DisplayPort outputs; that special case does not prove every two-display resolution.
- Power
- Power the dock with its specified supply. Compare the laptop's original 180 W or 240 W barrel adapter with the dock's up-to-210 W host delivery and keep the barrel charger for a 240 W/full-load configuration.
- Direct isolation
- The laptop provides two Thunderbolt 4 ports, another USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode, and HDMI. Use one direct output to separate a monitor/cable issue from the WD19DCS route before rebuilding the full desk.
First recovery steps by symptom
Nothing on the dock works
- Verify the WD19DC/DCS has its correct Dell AC supply and a powered status indicator.
- Reseat both halves of the dual USB-C host connector and remove extensions or intermediary hubs.
- Test the workstation on its original barrel charger and one direct USB accessory before treating the system board or dock as failed.
USB works, but one or both displays are blank
- Reduce to one monitor on one direct WD19DCS video output with a known-good cable.
- Test the monitor from the laptop's direct HDMI or USB-C display path to isolate the monitor and cable.
- If direct video works, return to the dock, update Dell graphics/dock firmware for the exact system, then add the second display.
Low-power warning or performance drops under load
- Read the wattage on the original Precision 7770 barrel adapter and identify 180 W versus 240 W.
- Confirm the dock model, its AC supply and that both host connectors are seated.
- For a 240 W configuration or persistent warning, connect the original supported barrel charger instead of assuming the dock can provide full workstation power.
Still unknown: Dell's documents do not establish every GPU mode, combined dock output, high-refresh/HDR result or sustained workstation load through WD19DC/DCS. The installed GPU, graphics mode, dock supply, firmware and monitor cables remain material.

Which docks support Dell Precision 7770?
“Supported” is Dell’s model-level entry. The screen resolution, cabling and delivered charging power still need to match your desk. Grouped dock variants share the stated matrix column.
| Dock configuration | Manufacturer status | Charging ceiling | Conditions and source |
|---|
| Dell Pro Dock WD25 | Not supported | Up to 100 W on supported Dell systems | Configurations needing more than 100 W may need their own charger with WD25. Select a listed higher-power dock if one-cable power is essential. Dell matrix, page 5 |
|---|
| Dell Pro Dock WD25Z / Smart Dock SD25 | Not supported | Up to 130 W on supported Dell systems | Some workstation configurations need more than 130 W. Keep the laptop’s supported charger connected; the dock alone may not sustain full performance. Dell matrix, page 5 |
|---|
| Dell WD25TB4 / SD25TB4 | Not supported | Up to 130 W on supported Dell systems | Some workstation configurations need more than 130 W. Keep the laptop’s supported charger connected; the dock alone may not sustain full performance. Dell matrix, page 5 |
|---|
| Dell WD25TB5 / SD25TB5 | Not supported | Up to 300 W; host must support the required power range | This Precision model does not support the dock’s extended power range and draws at most 130 W here. A separate laptop charger is required for optimal operation. Dell matrix, page 5 |
|---|
| Dell WD22TB4 | Not supported | Up to 130 W on supported Dell systems | Some Precision configurations exceed 130 W. Use the supported laptop charger when needed; even a 210 W dock does not cover a 280 W configuration. Dell matrix, page 14 |
|---|
| Dell WD19 / WD19S (130 W adapter) | Not supported | Up to 90 W; 130 W is the adapter rating | This configuration may exceed the dock’s charging capacity. Check the laptop’s required power and keep its supported charger available. Dell matrix, page 14 |
