Start with your connection and power requirements
Use the intended host port
The two left-side Thunderbolt 4 ports support Power Delivery. The right-side USB-C port carries 10 Gbps USB and DisplayPort 1.4; it is not another Thunderbolt 4 port. Do not assume every USB-C socket offers the same dock or charging route.
Match power to the graphics configuration
Dell specifies 100 W for optimal performance with integrated graphics and 165 W with discrete graphics. Compare the dock’s delivered laptop power with that requirement, not the wattage printed on its power brick. Keep the supported laptop adapter available when the documented arrangement needs separate power.
Separate a blank screen from a charging warning
For no picture, check the host port, dock output, monitor input and intended mode. For a power warning, first check the laptop’s graphics configuration and required supply. Dock compatibility entries below remain model-level evidence; they do not guarantee every combined display mode or full-power one-cable operation.

Which docks support Dell Precision 5690?
“Supported” is Dell’s model-level entry. The screen resolution, cabling and delivered charging power still need to match your desk. Grouped dock variants share the stated matrix column.
| Dock configuration | Manufacturer status | Charging ceiling | Conditions and source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dell Pro Dock WD25 | Not supported | Up to 100 W on supported Dell systems | Configurations needing more than 100 W may need their own charger with WD25. Select a listed higher-power dock if one-cable power is essential. Dell matrix, page 5 |
| Dell Pro Dock WD25Z / Smart Dock SD25 | Not supported | Up to 130 W on supported Dell systems | Some workstation configurations need more than 130 W. Keep the laptop’s supported charger connected; the dock alone may not sustain full performance. Dell matrix, page 5 |
| Dell WD25TB4 / SD25TB4 | Not supported | Up to 130 W on supported Dell systems | Some workstation configurations need more than 130 W. Keep the laptop’s supported charger connected; the dock alone may not sustain full performance. Dell matrix, page 5 |
